    The open-air bath was a refreshing escape.

    Navigating to Hakone Honbako was a nightmare! We experienced immense frustration trying to catch a taxi from Gora station-it took us over 30 minutes with nothing in sight. Finally, we discovered the tram option only after wasting so much time. I can't stress enough how poorly the transportation situation was handled unfamiliar with the area.

    I had a private open-air bath that gave me fine views of the mountains! The food was out of this world, 3 nights 3 distinct menus, each with a full background story. I seemed like I was on a journey through Japanese cuisine every meal.

    I stayed in a Twin Room with Terrace and it was super comfy! The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The room was spacious and clean. It had its own little terrace which was awesome for enjoying the mountain views. The whole vibe was really cozy. Only downside was that the Wi-Fi was a bit spotty, but I was too busy enjoying the onsen to care much.
